There’s something special about starting the day at Brockwell Lido. Nestled in the heart of South London, this outdoor pool offers a lovely retreat from the city’s hum, and a perfect setting for a swim with Crystal Palace Masters SC on one of our social mornings.
For those who thrive on the challenge of open-air training, Brockwell Lido delivers. The cold embrace of the water is invigorating—a stark contrast to the warmth of the rising sun overhead. Whether you’re here for structured drills, steady endurance sets, or simply to enjoy the rhythm of the lanes, there’s a shared camaraderie among swimmers as we slice through the water together, even though it can be a little choppy.
Post-swim, there’s an unspoken ritual: a slow walk to the on-site café, fingers cold and bodies shivering from the 15 degree water. The café, buzzing with fellow swimmers and morning regulars, is a welcome space to decompress and warm up!! A strong coffee in hand (perhaps accompanied by a well-earned pastry), it’s the perfect way to round off the morning before heading back into the world.
Another perfect start to a weekend and a great social event for our club, with plenty more to come as the water warms.
